The New England Rural Health RoundTable (NERHRT) is a non-profit, membership-driven organization composed of a diverse group of individuals and organizations committed to improving health and health care throughout the rural New England communities.
The RoundTable was established in 1997 with funding from the National Rural Health Association (NRHA) and serves as a regional rural health advocate for Connecticut, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Our Board of Directors includes members from each of these states. |

- June 5, 2008: Maine Program Wins RWFJ Award: Maine's Quality Counts program will receive $1 million over a three year period from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation (RWJF) to improve the quality of health care.
- April, 2008: Mid-State Health Center Wins Planning Grant: Mid-State Health Center, Plymouth, NH, has received a $81,235 one year Rural Health Network Development Planning Grant award from the federal Office of Rural Health Policy.
- April, 2008: MVHI Selected for Demonstration Project Grant Mascoma Valley Health Initiative, Canaan, NH, is the recipient of a $15,000 NACCHO Accreditation Preparation and Quality Improvement Demonstration Sites Project grant.
- April, 2008: Bi-State Primary Care Association has received a three year Rural Health Network Development Grant of $180,000 per year to respond to Vermont health care reform initiatives.
- April, 2008: New Balance Foundation Helps Maine Kids: The New Balance Foundation has donated $138,167 to a pilot program in Norridgewock and Skowhegan to help combat childhood obesity. The money will fund the Move More Kids program, to encourage children in rural Maine to get more exercise.

This report is a unique examination of the health care and health related data that describes a range of demographic, access, utilization, and health outcome parameters for rural communities across the six-state region and compares these to the non-rural areas of the region.
